Quality of Life
In Mitchell, we enjoy an unparalleled lifestyle – outside expectations.
We take pride in our rich history and Midwest tradition, and that includes recreation that spans all four seasons.
Take the family out for a splashing good time at the Mitchell Aquatic Center, where you can swim laps in the 50-meter, 6-lane competition pool or try out the double slide that runs over 100 feet. This waterpark has something for the whole family with zero-depth entry, a water walk, sprayers, slides and more.
Lay out the picnic blanket for free outdoor concerts by the Mitchell City Band, or run off energy at any of Mitchell’s 20+ public parks and beaches, including basketball courts, sand volleyball pits, softball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts and more.
FUN ON THE WATER
Lake Mitchell and the nearby Missouri
River offer an abundance of boating,
fishing, swimming and camping
FUN ON THE FIELDS
With five baseball fields, 14 softball
fields, five soccer fields, and a skating
and hockey arena, there is plenty to keep the sport's enthusiast occupied.
FUN FOR THE 4-LEGGED
If it's your four-legged family member with energy to burn, the Mitchell Dog Park features more than three enclosed acres tailored for both large and small dogs with fencing and shade and equipped with drinking fountains, benches and gravel pathways.
FUN IN THE WINTER
Build memories while building snowmen at the large open park spaces around town. Or for the thrill of winter, go sledding at the Amphitheatre along Lake Mitchell.
Head indoors for movies, live theatre performances, museums, bowling, open gyms, open ice skating, vocal and instrumental concerts, and craft shows. Or check out what special events are happening in town, from craft shows to car shows to parades, festivals, running events, and more, all on the community calendar.
Annual festivities include the Corn Palace Festival, Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo, Pheasant Country Banquet, Miller Lite Bull Bash, Summer Solstice Arts Festival, Archeology Days and Polka Festival.
FUN IS ALWAYS IN FULL SWING
Mitchell features two golf courses, one municipal and one privately owned and open to the public.
