This event is free and open to all children pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. The children will have opportunities to play games, earn prizes and read Dr. Seuss books. Every pre-K through fifth-grade child will also receive a free book. Returning this year will be the Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2 available for photos, and also there will be a photo booth with props to use for $3. “The Dr. Seuss Carnival benefits the surrounding Mitchell communities as well as the DWU future educators who plan, organize and work the event,” said René Pruitt, associate professor of education. “Our teacher candidates spend the whole school year fundraising and planning for the event. Even non-education majors pitch in to help. This year DWUFTO will also sell Dr. Seuss mugs for $10 each, available to purchase at the event. DWU also encourages families to support the Mitchell Weekend Snack Pack Program by bringing easy-to-prepare food items and snacks to the carnival for donation.
