A lovely June wedding at Holy Family and a honeymoon in Alaska was the start of the Havliks' life together.

Lexie, Stratton, and John celebrated the formation of their family on this day.

After a long-distance relationship with Stratton, Lexie moved to Mitchell a few years ago from White Cross Plains, a suburb of Madison, Wisconsin.  She now works as a nurse at Avera Queen of Peace on the OB floor.

Lexie and Stratton met at the wedding of a mutual friend.

Lexie was then working in Madison, WI as an OB nurse. Previously she earned her nursing degree at Edgewood College in Madison.  Lexie said, “Being a nurse allowed me to stack my schedule so we could have time together in Mitchell.”

Stratton grew up on the family’s small farm near Mitchell with his three brothers. Like all the Stratton boys, he attended school in Mitchell and was an avid wrestler, winning a few state titles in his day. He now gets his wrestling fix assisting the Mitchell High School wrestling team.

Stratton is a realtor at Exit Realty in addition to selling crop insurance.

Everyone who knows the Halviks will tell you that they are the nicest people you will ever meet. They will also tell you how much they love the outdoors and spending time on the Havlik family farm.

John, Stratton’s son, and Lexie’s stepson make their home in Mitchell with their new puppy Wilma.  John is a fifth-grade student at Longfellow. He loves everything football and just completed his first season of playing tackle football. John also enjoys spending time helping his grandparents on the Havlik family farm just northwest of Mitchell.

As a new family, Lexie, Stratton, and John love to spend time fishing. They also enjoy visiting National Parks, the mountains, and hiking. Stratton and John like to hunt, but Lexie says she is not a hunter. She would instead participate by training their red lab puppy Wilma.

Lexie has felt embraced and friended by the Mitchell community. She says, “The biggest difference between Mitchell and Wisconsin has been the wind.”  Lexie explains, “In Madison we are surrounded by hills, but here in Mitchell it is just wide-open spaces.”  She notes that she feels winters seem a bit colder because of that wind, but the people in Mitchell are the warmest.

Lexie said, “Mitchell will be home for a long-time to come.”  “With family nearby, we feel supported for the future as we look to someday grow our family.”
