Calling all students in Mitchell, Parkston, Tripp, White Lake, Corsica, and Ethan – three summer career camps for upper elementary, middle, and high school students are available. Two of the camps are at no cost.

Eight scholarships with a value of $1800 are available for students 16 and over for CNA Training Camp.

The Chart Your Career scholarship pays for the CNA Training Camp coordinated by Avera Education and Staffing Solutions and Mitchell Regional Workforce. The scholarship includes the total cost of the CNA training, materials, and one certification test for accepted applicants.

Only a few scholarships are left, so sign up now to attend Chart Your Career CNA Training Camp at ChartYourCareer.Org. Online training begins soon, with camp and certification held July 12-16 on the Mitchell Tech Campus.

Becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant is the gateway to many health care careers and will open many new opportunities for students.

Tech Camp is open to students going into grades 8 -10 next fall. Camp is half-day, 8:30 am – 12:30 pm, July 5-9 at Mitchell High School. Students will be Sphero coding, building an activity bot, learning phone repair, photography, video, Adobe Animate, Tik Tok, and touring several tech companies in Mitchell. Bruce Mastel is the Camp Instructor; Shane Thill is the Camp Director. Contact them to sign up, or email Karen Whitney, the Workforce Coordinator at kwhitney@mitchellsd.com.

For the second summer, CTE Camp will be June 7-11 in the CTE Lab at Mitchell Middle School taught by Sara Steckle. This year’s camp theme is Shark Tank. The morning session is 8:00 – 11:00 am for students going into grades 4-5. The afternoon session is 12:30 – 3:30 pm for students entering grades 6 and 7 in the fall.

This camp is a hands-on, project-based camp using science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. Sign up through Mitchell Parks and Rec. The cost of this camp is $99 for the week.
