The public is invited to participate in a Launch Party for Forward 2040, the community vision and strategic planning process that has been in the works throughout much of 2019. The event is scheduled for 3:30-5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the Mitchell Tech Amphitheater.

The event will include a social, a presentation of the planning process to date, and the opportunity for all community members to learn about the strategic pillars – those items that have evolved from the hundreds of surveys completed since March.

“We have made a concerted effort to gather information from a wide variety of people,” said Stephanie Ellwein, Mitchell city administrator. “Now the real work will begin as community members learn about the results and mobilize to realize the vision.”

Representatives from Future IQ will be on hand to outline the strategic initiatives that the community has developed. Anyone who wishes to participate as the project moves forward will be encouraged to select an area of interest and join a work group.

“This is a long-term process,” said Mark Vaux, executive director of the Mitchell Area Development Corporation. “We are envisioning the Mitchell of the future. The only way we will be successful is if many people with various interests, backgrounds and talents work together over the coming years.”
