• New Member to Join DWU Board of Trustees

    MITCHELL – Dakota Wesleyan University announces a new member joining the university’s Board of Trustees. Dr. Nancy N. Quan, Esq. will join the DWU governing body this fall.  Quan, a 1972 graduate, is founder of Quan & Associates, a law firm in Cary, NC.
     
    Dr. Quan came to the United States from Hong Kong in 1969 to attend Dakota Wesleyan as she desired a small, faith-based institution in which to pursue her interest in chemistry and mathematics.  She has a long list of impressive accomplishments including various executive leadership roles at 3M, H. B. Fuller Company and Discus Dental (acquired by Philips).  Her deep understanding of physical chemistry and its implications led to her securing 8 patents, gaining expertise in global patent law, and kickstarting of entrepreneurial efforts in the running of her own business. 
     
    In addition to her two bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and mathematics at DWU, Dr. Quan holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Wyoming and a Juris Doctorate from the William Mitchell School of Law in St. Paul, MN.
     
    She is a past chair of the Intellectual Property Committee Diversity in the Profession Committee; Solo and Small Firm Committee in the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice section; and Bioinformatics in IP Law Section; as well as a member of several other committees and task forces of the American Bar Association.
     
    Dr. Quan has two sons, Dennis and Christopher.
     
    In support of DWU, Dr. Quan has established and funded an endowed scholarship for women and minority students studying to be math and science educators.
